Hospice
St. Luke's Hospice offers physical, emotional, social and spiritual support for terminally ill patients and their families. Care is provided in a patient's home or wherever they reside. St. Luke's Hospice is founded on the premise that the patient and family are given the ability to choose the care options that will bring dignity, hope and comfort to the remainder of the patient's life. Patients receive ongoing assessment, support and coordination to help them pursue the goal of quality living.
St. Luke's Hospice treats the whole person - not just the illness. While the control of physical pain and symptoms is the primary concern for caregivers, it is not the only priority. The patient with an irreversible illness suffers from an array of emotional, spiritual and social problems. By using a team of professionals, St. Luke's Hospice helps patients and families enhance the quality of life for as long as life lasts. Care is available to everyone. Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance companies cover Hospice care. However, patients are never denied care because of inability to pay.
Individualized, patient-centered care is provided to eastern Iowans within a 50-mile radius of Cedar Rapids. Emphasis is placed on offering a level of care that provides comfort, maintains dignity and promotes quality of life. Patients and families can reach St. Luke's Hospice 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
