St. Luke's Pet Pals Volunteer Mike Benge and his faithful sidekick, Cassie, were recently honored with a Guardian Angel Award by a grateful patient.
Velda Watts of Cedar Rapids wrote, "Mike and Cassie are the best of friends and work as volunteer members of the Pet Pals Program. They gave me hope. They are an AWESOME team!"

The Guardian Angel program gives a patient or family an opportunity to express appreciation for a specific St. Luke's associate or department who made a difference in their health care experience. The gift is then directed to either the associate or department, or to the Guardian Angel Fund.
