In 1883, Reverend Samuel Ringgold made a passionate plea to the Cedar Rapids community. He asked them to build ". a real hospital, so that citizens and strangers alike can be cared for." It was then, more than 125 years ago, that the Cedar Rapids community came together in generosity to begin what today, has become a world-class hospital.
